A new Fav. Song!!

I have a new favorite song. If you know me at all you know that music is just a part of who I am. A friend of mine told me of this song by Brandon Heath. It is called Give me your eyes. If you get a chance you need to here it. Very good song! It is taking about asking the Lord to give him Gods eyes to see people the way the God sees the people. This is a prayer that I am going to be praying for myself.you know there are a lot of lost and hurting, and unhappy people out there that just need Jesus in their hearts. anyway my friend also told me of another song by Casting crowns that is really good as well called Slow Fade. worth listening to.
Well I am off to my baby shower today so chat with ya later!

Here is the link to Brandon Heaths song:

New Jammers For Coral!!

I just love to have comfortable P.J's. Today I made Coral some new ones. She loved them as much as I did. and it thy were very easy to make. From start to finish it took about half an hour. They have draw string bottoms and a slip over top.

She sure looks yummy in them as the pattern is all watermelons!
She just loves to be able to move freely in her cloths and these Jammers allow that. Which is a must with a almost 2 year old.

What can i say she is sooooo cute! Even if there were no P.J's.

What Have I Been Up To?

Well this is what I am looking like these days. I am now 34 weeks along and still trying to keep up with everyday life along with getting ready for the holidays! Can I just say that I am very tired? Anyway I wanted to share some of the things that have kept me from having time to get on here and keep in touch. Here it goes:
Here is what my kitchen table is looking like lately, My kids are missing dinners at the table we have resorted to eating in the living room for this short time!
So here are a couple of sets of pot holders and kitchen towels that I have been working with my girls to make for Christmas gifts. This is so easy and fun to do, I am even teaching my sewing class how to make them. I have Randi over at I Have To say for this crafty set, she has tutorial on her site on how to make these. You should check it out.( Hey Randi the same towels are almost $4.00 for the two here in Hawaii, can you believe it?)
I also found these great aprons on Randi's site. So easy and great to go with the pot holders and towels!

This is a baby blanket that I finished today for a friend whose baby shower is tomorrow! I hope she likes it!And last but not least I made these rolls today as a test run for Thanksgiving dinner. They turned out great! About half of them were already gone before I could get this picture!
So I would say that was not bad for one days work, I can't really believe I got done what I did today, but not to many more days before Christmas and not to mention I will have another baby here very soon!!!! YEA!!!
What have you been up to for the Holiday's, Any great gift Ideas?
Aloha!

Baby room is almost done!!

So here it is we finished painting and hanging the boarder in the baby/guest room this last weekend. Wayne put the crib in the room and the guest bed He also painted an older dresser we had and now it is a cute nursery!

The picture is a little off center but you get the idea! This is the first room in our home that I have decorated so far and I am excited about it. I think it is very cute and very Girly!
Now we just need to clean the room and do a few finishing touches and we are ready for baby!
Aloha!

Sewing Class Starts Today!

Well today I will be teaching 4 girls how to sew! I don't really think of myself as a great teacher, but i like to sew and I can show them how to do the basic stuff. I think it will be fun. It is important to show our young ladies the things that might be helpful when they are married and have families themselves. Plus it is a great skill to have. Not to mention the time spent with friends doing something productive.

What have you tought someone else lately? Do you have a skill you like to share with others?

I did it! I made pumpkin butter, My Inspired Heart made a comment on my blog when I made apple butter about doing this so I gave it a try. I was so easy and the butter tastes sooooo good!
I'm glad I tried it. I am going to have to make more to freeze because all of these jars are going other places, and getting eaten! It was so easy to make I wont mind doing it again very soon.

Have a great day

I made an apron!

I got this pattern from Randi over at i have to say. It is a Grand Revival pattern that I bought from Randis Esty store. I didn't have any bias tape so I made it without since I can't just run to the store because that would require a 1 1/2 hour drive. but despite that little hold up I think it turned out quite nice! I hope to be making more of these Hawaiian ones and put them in my etsy store, sarahsinHawaii

We shall see!

Another project completed!

Well, I did it I made another rag quilt. It took me one whole day to sew this quilt together and then clip it. It is a lap quilt so it didn't take as long as the first one I made that fit my moms queen bed! I think it turned out really nice!
I don't know this quilt may end up in my store. I am thinking about making Hawaiian rag quilt kits to sell in my Etsy store, We will see if I can get to cutting out all those pieces.
I'm not sure what I will do now.? What are some of you working on?

More New Cloths!

That's right my wonderful friend Shelly has done it again! She made me this very cute dress. And it fit me perfect without having to be measured. She is good! It is very nice to have someone make me cloths while I am pregnant because as you may know maternity cloths are not cheep! So Thank You so Very MUCH Shelly!
And as for me I have been making more skirts for my girls after making coral another skirt the older ones decided that I should make them one as well. So I did and they wore them to!!! Their skirt is a little different in that they have a double layer of fabric to make it a bit puffy. It is one of the new style and I a surprised I figured out how to do it without a pattern! They chose all their own fabric from what I had at home, Caitlin is in the pink shirt and Candice is inside the church!
Here is the second on I made for Coral. In this skirt I used more fabric so it gathered more. It turned out very nice, and she liked the fact that her sisters had homemade skirts to. They all wore them to church on Wednesday night.

Have fun sewing!

The final day to comment!

Today is the last day for a chance to win this bag! so don't forget to leave me a comment!

My First Homemade Pattern!

I tried it and it turned out! My first homemade pattern So I thought I could share it with you!It is supper easy but I am glad I did it! I will do my best to explain step by step. I hope it will work for you as well. This is sized to fit my almost 2 year old so adjust if needed! Here it goes:
I sewed everything at a ¼ inch unless I tell you otherwise in the pattern.
First you need to cut 2 waist band pieces at 11 inches long by 6 inches wide.
Then you will need to cut The bottom parts of the skirt into 8 strips of 13 inches long by 5 inches wide. You will need 2 strips of each color you want to equal 8 strips, ( you may cut more strips for a fuller skirt if you would like).
Then sew the strips together alternating colors right sides together until all are sewn together like shown here.
Then taking the waist band pieces sew the two sides together at short ends like shown here.
Then back to the bottom of skirt sew a line at the top for your gather. After you have sewn that line go ahead and gather your fabric so that it will fit with your waist.
After you have done this go ahead and sew the end of you skirt together. Like shown here.
Then line up the skirt with your waist band and sew right sides together, ( this means putting your waist band on the inside of your skirt bottom) then sew together like shown here.
When this part is done you should have something that looks like this.
Then fold your top waist in about ½ inch at the top and sew, after you have done this fold the waist band down to just go over the raw edge of your skirt bottom and carefully sew, ( make sure your thread matches your fabric so that it really does not show up on the other side.) Leaving an opening for you elastic to be put through.
Measure your child to see what length you need for elastic and the thread it through the waist band like shown here, and then sew elastic together and wiggle into waist. Then making sure your elastic is at the top of your waist band sew just under the elastic that is inside your waist band to make your casing, again making sure your thread matches and that you do not catch the elastic. you want it to move freely!
Now finish the bottom of your skirt by folding twice to fit the length you want for your child, For Coral I folded it at 1 inch two times, and that will give you a finished look at the bottom.
And hopefully yours will look like this when you are done
Coral loved it and it fit her great!
Let me know If you like the pattern and if you are able to make one yourself!

Aloha!

I Did it!

I did it, I canned apple sauce and apple butter! The last time I made anything to can was with Randi over at I Have To Say. and that was years ago we made jam and syrup together. That was so fun we got strawberry all over my kitchen( mostly my fault because Randi is a bit more tidy than I :) ) anyway I have never canned by myself and now I can say that I have done this and it turned out great. I hope to do more canning of other things in the near future! Maybe things from my own garden, like tomatoes or beans. I don't know we will just have to wait and find out.

Beach Day is always fun!

I love spending time with my family. We usually go to the beach on Sundays after church because we go to church in Kona. Kona is about 1 to 1 1/2 hours away so we take advantage of being there and hit the beaches. This makes for a great family day, and sometime our friends will join us. Candice and Wayne are plying in the sand here and coral woke up from a nap to find her sister head deep in the sand! She thought that was funny!

Here is Candice's beautiful face!
What do you like to do for fun?

ALOHA till next time.

We have more than just beaches here!

We had a great time this weekend! We went up to the mountains here in Hawaii with some friends! The goal? To pick apples at the apple orchard! That's right we have apple orchards here. We also picked pears. So I thought I would share some of the pictures, they are not in order but they will just have to do!

Here is a Holly Berrie tree we found full of Holly!
this is just some of the area we were in.
Here are the apples and pears we picked, we will be doing alot of cutting and canning!

Here is wayne, my girls and some of our friends picking apples!
This is Coral enjoying the apples just as they were picked, she also though it o.k to pick up the apples off the floor and eat them, so we had to watch her closely!
Courtney and two of her friends picking apples!
My Beautiful oldest daughter with a handful of apples!!

On the way up we came across a couple rancher herding their cattle across the road! this was fun to watch!

The only thing that may have made it better would have been if the rancher would have been riding horses instead of ATVs! I guess that's the times we live in!
Here is another scenic picture that we got to enjoy!
Here is one of the old rancher houses we came across.
Horses roaming free and wild!
So needless to say we had a great time enjoying the things that God created for us to enjoy! We also saw wild turkey, wild pigs and had fun off roading in out 4 wheel drive mini van! It was a time with my family I will never forget and plan on doing again soon! peaches and plums are next! All here in Hawaii!
Aloha!
